About ducAlto
Inspired by the latin words 'ducere' (to lead) and 'altior' (higher), ducAlto was founded to provide fit-for-purpose operational leadership support to startup founders and CEOs, in order for them to succeed and scale.
Startup founders and CEOs are busy raising funds or getting new customers, often trying to juggle both at the same time. A full-time COO is often considered an expensive luxury in the early days, especially if the startup still needs further technical or business development resources to support the next funding round.
Unfortunately, the more the startup grows without operational leadership support, the more founders and CEOs find themselves struggling to juggle their core fundraising and commercial activities with the administration growing pains of a growing team.

Fractional COO concept
ducAlto's founder, Matthew Hanley, conceptualised the fractional COO service offering following a number of years working as COO within the UK energy-tech and sustainability start-up scene.
Matthew noticed the struggle a number of his contemporary start-up founders and CEOs were facing with respect to operational leadership. Some needed operational support but didn't get any because they couldn't justify the workload and/or budget for a full-time COO. Others invested too early in a full-time COO, resulting in underinvestment in their product development and an underutilised COO.
ducAlto's mission is to provide 'right-sized' operational leadership to Australian start-ups, supporting founders and CEOs with the assistance they need to successfully grow their company.

Matthew Hanley - Founder
Matthew has over 25 years of extensive experience in operational leadership and programme management across start-ups and large multinational organisations. He has worked throughout Australia and the UK, most recently as COO of an energy-tech start-up in London.

We are not business consultants. We won't give you some recommendations and leave it to you to implement. We believe that true fractional COO services should be embedded within the company, where we can 'muck in' with the team to get the job done.
